Puma re-enters Volvo Ocean Race

German sportswear company Puma will enter a team in the next Volvo Ocean Race, in 2011-12, after finishing second in the 2008-09 competition.
US-based Puma Ocean Racing is the fourth team to enter the next Ocean Race, after France's Groupama, Italy's Italia 70 and an Abu Dhabi team. The organisers are speaking to around 20 teams in total, from which at least ten will compete. In 2008-09 eight teams entered. The calendar for 2011-12 was recently finalised. The race begins in the Spanish port of Alicante, and finishes in Galway, Ireland. On the way it will stop at Cape Town in South Africa, Abu Dhabi, Sanya in China, Auckland, Itajai in Brazil, Miami, Lisbon and Lorient in France. |
