The Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, UK, has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with British top-end carmaker to name the venue’s new premium hospitality lounge, due to open next year.
The ground is currently undergoing a £30-million renovation that will expand its capacity to 25,000 and build conference and event facilities. The Jaguar Lounge will be an exclusive place to 200 people and only 100 memberships will be available. “This is the first major sponsorship deal we have secured, linked to our new stadium development,” James McLaughlin, commercial director at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, said. “The deal brings together two great names from the Birmingham-city region. We look forward to announcing further exciting initiatives in the near future.” “The sponsorship forms part of our long term commitment to British sport under the umbrella of the recently launched Jaguar Academy of Sport. This aims to recognise, celebrate and inspire the very best of British sporting talent and success,” added Geoff Cousins, managing director of Jaguar UK. After hosting one of the Ashes Test Matches last year, which drew record profits to the Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Edgbaston now aims to attract more high profile international fixtures. |
